Build the Knowledge to Manage Health and Safety at Work

K4 Training offers a regulated Level 3 health and safety course for supervisors, managers and employees with health and safety responsibilities in the workplace.

Health and safety is part of every workplace, but having responsibility for it is a different matter. You need to understand the law, know how to assess risks and be able to deal with hazards before they cause an accident.

The Level 3 health and safety course gives you a more detailed understanding of these areas. It’s designed for people who need to do more than simply follow basic workplace safety rules.

What Will You Learn?

The course covers the main areas you’ll need to understand when taking on health and safety responsibilities.

You’ll learn about:

  • UK health and safety laws and employer responsibilities
  • Workplace health, safety and welfare
  • Health and safety management systems
  • The cost and impact of accidents and ill health
  • How to carry out a simple risk assessment, as part of broader risk assessment training
  • Different types of risk assessment
  • The hierarchy of control
  • Workplace hazards and how they can be controlled
  • Occupational, environmental, human and organisational factors
  • What to do after an accident or incident
  • Basic accident investigation
  • How to identify immediate and underlying causes
  • Communicating health and safety information effectively

The course also covers areas such as manual handling, fire safety, hazardous substances, electrical safety, work equipment and mental health in the workplace.

Who Is This Course For?

This workplace health and safety course is aimed at people who have, or are taking on, health and safety responsibilities at work.

Why Take a Level 3 Health and Safety Course?

Basic fire awareness or workplace safety training is useful, but some roles require a deeper understanding. If you’re responsible for a team, workplace or particular health and safety duties, you need to know more than what to do when something goes wrong. You need to understand why risks exist, how to control them and what your responsibilities are.

This health and safety training for managers can help you:

  • Understand your health and safety responsibilities
  • Make better decisions about workplace risks
  • Carry out simple risk assessments
  • Recognise common workplace hazards
  • Understand how accidents happen
  • Take appropriate action after an incident
  • Improve how health and safety information is communicated
  • Prepare for greater responsibility at work
  • Support your career progression into supervisory or management roles
