Maybe you’re between jobs. Maybe retail or hospitality has run its course and you want something steadier. Or maybe you’ve thought about door supervisor work for a while now and just never got round to it.

Whatever brought you here, the Full SIA Door Supervisor Training Course gets you from zero to licensed. It’s not exam-cramming dressed up as training; it’s built around what the job actually throws at you. Conflict, pressure, the occasional emergency. First Aid included, because on the job, you’re often the first person there when something goes wrong.

Six days. One qualification. A licence that works anywhere in the UK.

This course by K4 Training is for anyone who wants to work as a door supervisor and doesn’t yet have an SIA licence. That covers a lot of people:

• Career changers ready to leave a dead-end job behind
• People coming out of retail, hospitality, or events who fancy something more hands-on
• Anyone returning to work after time off
• School leavers looking for a proper first step into a real career

You don’t need a security background. You don’t need to be intimidating. You need to be willing to learn and show up for six days.

You’ll come out the other side able to handle the actual demands of door supervisor work, not just tick boxes on a syllabus. The course covers four core units:

Working in the Private Security Industry 

The legal side, emergency procedures, communication and how to protect vulnerable people you’ll come across on shift.

Working as an SIA Door Supervisor 

Licensing law, crime prevention, drug awareness, queue management and using security equipment properly.

Conflict Management 

Arguably the most-used skill on the job. De-escalation, spotting risk early and staying level-headed when things get tense.

Physical Intervention 

Approved techniques for when intervention genuinely is necessary, taught with a strong focus on staying legal, safe and proportionate.

First Aid runs through the whole thing. Not bolted on. When someone’s hurt or unwell, you’re often first on the scene; this makes sure you know what to do until help arrives.

Plenty of places will get you through the exam. Fewer will get you ready for the job.

• Real scenarios, not just theory. You’ll practise conflict management, physical intervention and emergency response before you ever need them for real.
• Small groups. You get proper attention, not a lecture hall.
• Trainers who’ve done the job. Not just people reading from a script.
• Support if you don’t pass first time. Re-assessment and extra help are built in; nobody’s left stranded.

We’ve trained people moving into security as a fresh start, people coming back to work and people from retail and hospitality who wanted something recognised on paper. The reasons differ. What they all wanted was a proper, respected role and that’s what this leads to.

• Duration: 6 days of training, exam on the following day
• Format: In-person, hands-on delivery; this isn’t a course you can do staring at a screen
• Assessment: Written exams plus practical demonstrations, so you’re tested on both knowledge and how you actually apply it
• Support: Re-assessment options if you don’t pass first time, plus guidance throughout

Once you’ve completed the course and passed the assessment, you’re ready to apply for your SIA door supervisor licence, valid for three years and recognised across the whole of the UK. That licence opens doors to work in:

• Static guarding roles
