Onsite CCTV Training
Onsite CCTV Training for Your Security Team
Train CCTV operators at your own premises with practical, licence-linked training built around the legal knowledge, observation skills and system handling they’ll need on the job.
Train Your CCTV Staff Without Sending Them Off-Site
When several employees need the same qualification, sending everyone to different training dates can become a headache. Travel, shift cover, missed working hours it soon adds up.
K4 Training’s on-site CCTV training brings the course to your organisation instead. Your staff train together at a suitable workplace venue, making it easier to organise learning without pulling the team in different directions.
It’s a good fit for security companies, monitoring centres, facilities teams, corporate security departments and organisations preparing staff for public space surveillance work.
Who Is the Onsite CCTV Course For?
This course is aimed at people who need the knowledge and qualification required for professional CCTV operator roles. Previous surveillance experience isn’t necessary. You may book it for recruits, existing security officers moving into control-room duties or employees who need a recognised CCTV qualification as part of their role.
For businesses, group delivery has another practical advantage: everyone learns the same procedures at the same time. That matters when operators later need to communicate, record incidents and make decisions as one team.
What Will Your Staff Learn?
The SIA CCTV training covers three main units, combining classroom learning with practical CCTV work. K4’s current course structure includes:
Unit 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
Learners cover the basics expected of professional security staff, including:
- Security industry responsibilities and standards
- Health and safety
- Emergency procedures
- Effective communication
- Record keeping and reporting
- Terrorism awareness
- Protecting vulnerable people
Unit 2: Working as a CCTV Operator
This part gets into the day-to-day responsibility of the job. Staff learn about privacy, data protection, responsible monitoring, recognising unusual behaviour, recording incidents and passing information to security teams or emergency services.
Unit 3: Practical Use of CCTV Systems
Then comes the hands-on part. Learners practise monitoring several camera feeds, following incidents, operating CCTV equipment and recording or preserving evidence correctly.
Watching a screen is easy. Knowing what deserves attention and what to do next takes training.
How Long Does Onsite CCTV Training Take?
K4’s standard CCTV operator training course is currently listed as a three-day programme. Current SIA requirements allow Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) training to run for 22 hours over three days where permitted self-study is included. Without self-study, the required training is 30 hours over four days.
For onsite bookings, we’ll discuss the appropriate timetable with you before confirming delivery.
What Are the Benefits for Employers?
Booking training at your premises can make life easier when you’re responsible for a group rather than a single learner.
Train several CCTV staff together.
Reduce unnecessary employee travel.
Build consistent working practices across the team.
Give staff hands-on CCTV experience before they’re working under pressure.
Arrange training around operational needs where qualification rules allow.
And there’s less back-and-forth. One team, one training plan, one location.
What Qualification Does the Course Lead To?
Successful learners can gain the Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry, provided the course is delivered and assessed through an accepted awarding organisation. This is a current licence-linked qualification recognised by the SIA.
Qualifying allows a learner to apply for an SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Licence where one is required. The qualification itself isn’t the licence; the SIA application is a separate process.
Why Book CCTV Training Through K4?
A good CCTV operator needs more than a pass mark. They need to notice when something isn’t right, stay calm, document what happened and pass accurate information to the right person.
K4’s course uses written assessment alongside practical demonstrations, so learners are assessed on their knowledge and their ability to use it.
That’s particularly useful for employers. You’re not simply putting staff through another classroom course; you’re preparing them for the decisions they’ll actually make in a monitoring environment.

FAQs
Can CCTV operator training be delivered at our workplace?
Yes, where your premises are suitable for the required teaching, practical exercises and assessments. K4 can discuss the venue requirements with you before the course is booked.
How long is the SIA CCTV operator course?
K4 currently lists its standard course as three days. Current SIA rules require 22 hours over three days with permitted self-study, or 30 hours over four days without self-study.
Do employees need previous CCTV experience?
No. K4’s course is suitable for beginners as well as existing security professionals who want to add CCTV operation to their skill set.
Does completing the course automatically give someone an SIA CCTV licence?
No. Successful completion provides the relevant licence-linked qualification; the learner then applies separately to the SIA for a Public Space Surveillance licence.
What assessments are included?
Learners complete written assessments and practical demonstrations. The practical element checks whether they can apply their CCTV knowledge rather than simply recall information from the classroom.
Is onsite CCTV training better than searching for an SIA CCTV course near me?
For one learner, a public course may be simpler. But when several employees need training, on-site delivery can cut travel and make scheduling easier because the course is brought to your organisation.
